The IRS releases Notices that provide time-sensitive direction before Regulations and other formal guidance is issued. This course will briefly frame what qualifies as authoritative IRS guidance and where Notices fit, then summarize selected recent IRS Notices that are necessary for current planning and compliance questions, highlight what each Notice changes or clarifies, and translate key provisions into practical implications for taxpayers and advisors. Emphasis will be on how the Notice guidance affects positions, elections, documentation, and near-term client communications rather than on general notice-response procedures.
