Upon successful completion of this course, the user should be able to:

• identify the characteristics of system-generated reports and distinguish common report sources, including canned ERP reports, custom queries, and Excel-based prepared-by-client schedules;

• evaluate the principal audit risks associated with system-generated reports, including completeness issues, incorrect logic or formulas, unauthorized changes, manual intervention, and weaknesses in IT general controls or application controls; and

• apply a four-step audit framework to assess report reliability by identifying the report's purpose, assessing IT risks, evaluating report outputs, and testing underlying data integrity before relying on the information in audit procedures.
