Upon successful completion of this course, the user should be able to:

• identify the four GASB projects highlighted in the segment and summarize the expected timing of key due process milestones;

• differentiate infrastructure asset reporting approaches (historical cost net of depreciation vs. modified approach) and apply the segment's tentative decisions to classify expenditures as maintenance/preservation (expense) versus betterments/additions (capitalize); and

• evaluate how the proposed Category A/Category B model and the going concern/severe financial stress concepts are intended to reduce diversity in practice, including key recognition/disclosure triggers and judgment areas.
