What is Test of Controls  

This course explains how auditors use tests of controls to evaluate whether selected internal controls are designed and operating effectively to prevent or detect material misstatements. Learners explore the relationship between tests of controls, control risk assessments, substantive procedures, and tests of details. The course also explains common control-testing procedures, including inquiry, observation, inspection, and re-performance, and describes how control-testing results may affect the nature, timing, and extent of substantive audit procedures. Practical examples and knowledge checks help learners distinguish control testing from substantive testing and apply core concepts in audit planning and execution.
