Jan R. Williams, PhD, CPA

Jan R. Williams is Dean and Professor Emeritus of the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee (UT) where he was on the faculty from 1977 through 2013. He is former Head of the Department of Accounting and Information Management and Dean of the Haslam College of Business at UT. He is the co-author of multiple editions of four books and has published over 125 articles, books, research monographs, continuing education courses, and other publications on issues of corporate financial reporting and accounting and business education. Dr. Williams served as President of the American Accounting Association (AAA), National President of Beta Alpha Psi, and Vice-President of the Tennessee Society of CPAs. He is Past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. He was a member of the Accounting Education Change Commission and the Pathways Commission. He has received multiple awards as an outstanding discussion leader and other professional accomplishments. In 2018, he received the AAA's Outstanding Accounting Educator Award, and in 2023, the AAA's Lifetime Service Award.
